It’s finally time! This has been a long time coming! For you and ME! I have been dreaming and manifesting about the perfect bedroom for YEARS – I mean it.  We have lived in this house for four years and we have been putting off decorating because we were, truth be told, not ready to commit to doing the hard work.  We  have no money to put towards improvements, the budget was always “as close to zero as possible”.  Truth be told, it still is pretty small a budget, but we are all in.

We decided that we are going to do this ourselves, learning and fixing our mistakes along the way.  It’s important to note that neither one of us have ANY prior building experience, but a little knowhow that we gathered from scouring Pinterest I have also been following a bunch of amazing DIY bloggers all over instagram that gave me the confidence to GO FOR IT.  

 

THIS WAS THE BEFORE, I know... Im sorry.

We knew we wanted a herringbone wall because it was a pattern that I have been in love with for years.  But the angles really freaked us out.  I looked through countless Youtube tutorials and I found that they were too professional – they were beyond our DIY capabilities.  So I looked through Pinterest and I found a tutorial that we ended up sort of following.

We didn't know how to figure out the angle, so we placed the wood where it would end and made marks to cut.

We were so busy nailing the pieces on to the walls that we didn’t take any photos.  However, the small videos that we made are on my INSTAGRAM highlights.  

After we had nailed all the boards, we wanted a seamless look like the tutorial above and so wee got to work filling all the joints with wood filler and caulking.  We sanded all the joints and kept repeating this process till we were happy with all the joints being hidden.

I LOVE how it turned out! Can you tell I am beyond ecstatic?

    Wow this is so dreamy, like something I would find in a boutique hotel! Bravo to you and your husband to pull this off and that too with no prior experience!!!
